Three time All-PAL in swimming and water polo, twice swimming captain and once water polo captain. Was All-NCS in swimming three years, and 1950 Cherokee team was the NCS champion. Was a community college All-America in events from the 50 yard freestyle to the 440 yard freestyle. Was named All-Northern California in swimming and water polo at the College of Pacific. In water polo, was an AAU All-American and member of the USA Pan America team in 1955 and advanced to Olympic Trials in 1956 and 1960. Was member of the San Francisco Olympic Club national championship teams in 1957 and 1959.
